CBS Weekend News: "Helps the soul": Chorus finds a way to perform from cars
The national CBS Weekend News program presented a feature on a Canadian choir using the Driveway Choir system, and showed clips from our Messiah Driveway Choir performance. The segment begins at 17:51, and Michael Pfitzer, Caitlin Felsman, and Bryce and Kathryn Denney are pictured at 19:03. Michael Pfitzer conducted a performance of Messiah in a parking lot in Bolton, MA, with singers safely participating from their cars using a microphone and radio system created by Bryce and Kathryn Denney. The Driveway Choir project was in collaboration with Caitlin Felsman and Opera on Tap Boston, Edward Jones, the Cantata Singers, the Harvard-Radcliffe Chorus, and Chorus pro Musica.

ABC News Albany: UAlbany premiering ‘Considering Matthew Shepard’ virtual performance by student choir
The University at Albany’s choral director and choir students are key players in a global music event. UAlbany’s traditional choral ensemble concert was canceled in March. Michael Pfitzer, the Director of Choral Studies, helped put together an alternative: A virtual performance with 477 singers 45 choirs from Australia, New Zealand, and the U.S.

Albany Times Union: 'Musicians Against Gun Violence' at UAlbany on Sunday
If Sunday's choral concert at the University at Albany included a 60-second song written in commemoration of each mass shooting in the United States so far this year in which at least three people were killed or injured, the performance would last four hours and 58 minutes. The program features a piece written by Parkland survivors and 15 pieces over about 75 minutes, written from the 14th century until as recently as about eight months ago.

Harvard Magazine: Joyful Noise
Members of the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum are accustomed to sharing the stage: since its inception in 1971, its singers have often sung alongside fellow undergraduates in the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra, the Harvard Glee Club, and the Radcliffe Choral Society. Michael Pfitzer was part of a team that brought the Joyful Noise choir to Cambridge for a weekend of performances and connections.
